Fatigue is an important issue for the health and care workforce, with implications for staff wellbeing, performance and patient safety. Members of the Workforce Voices team are contributing to this year’s Healthcare Fatigue Forum, providing us an opportunity to share learning relevant to our research.
Taking place at Northumbria University on Thursday 5 November 2026, this year’s forum will focus on “Implementing system change for patient safety”. The programme will explore the impact of fatigue, regulatory and governance approaches, and practical examples of fatigue risk management and system change across healthcare.
The day will be a mix of formal presentations, posters, workshops and small group discussions, allowing for networking and shared Learning.
As part of the programme, Workforce Voices Co-investigators Alison Steven and Matt Lievesly will present “REFRESH: Co-designing FRMS, NIHR Workforce Voices partnership”, sharing work that connects directly with our wider programme.
For Workforce Voices, the forum is an opportunity to connect our work exploring workforce sustainability with wider conversations about fatigue, staff wellbeing and creating working environments that support the health and care workforce.
